What are the advantages of distance learning education? Anyone taking online classes?

Hi all, I have a plan to do MBA from an online college, but before taking admission I want to know about the advantages of distance learning education so I can see if it’s best for me. I’ve never done it before and it will be a major decision in my life. Please help if you have any information on this. Thanks for your help.

  1. You are absolutely right! Before making such a major move, it’s always important to understand what it’s all about, and the pros and cons dealing with it. I don’t have much experience with it but some friends are doing it and have referred to me a good online resource where we can get all about advantages of distance learning. Take a look at http://www.distance-learning-college-guide.com/advantages-of-distance-learning.html it gives much of the information about distance learning education including some good information about MBA colleges and courses. Hope this helps.
  2. I'm doing online education with Grand Canyon University. I'm working on my Masters in Teaching (MAT). The advantage is that I do my homework in my own time. I'm a night person, so I do all of my reading and writing in the evenings. I don't have to attend class, so I can do it my work in pajamas or while eating dinner. You do need self-discipline. In my program, a paper is due every sunday with a reading journal (a journal that outlines the week's readings) due on Friday and responses to an electronic bulletin board due throughout the week. It's up to me to get all of my work done on time or I get marked down. Not all on-line programs are the same. Some, such as the Phoenix University, do not hold much clout in the business world. You need to research the program you're interested in to see how potential employers view it. Some on-line programs are considered so easy that employers do not necessarily respect them. Also, some online colleges are not accredited, so if you start at one, you can't transfer the units to another. I'm enjoying my experience and highly recommend it.
