What are the disadvantages of distance learning?

Hi there, I intend to soon join an online college but was wondering if there are any disadvantages to distance learning classes I should be aware of before I join. Thanks a lot!!

  1. The biggest problem is staying focused and not just blowing off class to do other things. Secondly, some people have a tough time learning this way. Sometimes the instructors aren't there when you need them. YOu don't have the luxury of just raising your hand with a question for further explaination. Thridly, it's still not thought of highly by jobs, other schools (like transferring to a University)....but getting better than it used to be. However, there are great advantages too.

Internet connection might not be available to everyone. Also some people are not comfortable using computers and the software for distance learning might be complicated to understand.
