How useful is an MS from US university by distance learning course?

I have a two year experience and I want to go for a MS in Computer Science in Spring 2009. By that time I will have about 3 years of experience. What is scope of an MS degree via distance learning from some US university? Will I be eligible for campus placements? Is it treated on par with regular course? Actually I am considering distance education because of financial issues. Please give your suggestions. Thanks.

  1. Distance learning is not as favored as the traditional method. However, if you go that route, opt for a well-known school with a good reputation and get high high marks.
  2. Unless you need it for decorative purposes, say because there is a job that specifically requires it, you may be better off just working. If you already have a four-year college degree of any sort, an MS isn't all that helpful except in the circumstances I've mentioned, and in computer science you pretty much learn by doing stuff anyway.
