Please recommend a distance learning place that is not the Open University?

Hi I am looking for a distance learning course to do from home for fun. Not neccesarily academic courses, just for my own entertainment. I have already done Open Uni courses and none others take my fancy right now. Thanks for any info. I will off course give best answer nomination as normal! Hi all The course I am considering would be fun, no specific qualification / accreditation needed - simple for interest or fun. Not particularly bothered about topic. Just looking for interest. Stonebridge.co.uk look like they offer various relevant courses distance learning, anyone got any knowledge / experience with them?

  1. you can usually do courses like this from your local college or uni , just contact them and ask
  2. Hi, I did a distance learning course at the college of estate management in reading - learning to be a surveyor. I also did a distance learning course at SAVA (milton Keynes) to learn to be a Home/Energy assessor. Learnt alot and they aren't Open Uni courses
  3. Have you looked at learndirect?
  4. It al depends on the subject you want to do and the level Academic. I would decide what subject you like and search for it on the internet. You can see if they offer adistance learn option. More and more colleges offer this option and with the a computer it has become much easier to recieve interactive material to learn from. I punched distance learn on the internet search and found about six places. that offered various course.
  5. Perhaps the University of London? http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk Also search by course subject here: http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&safe=off&client=pub-2977208566521185&cof=FORID%3A1%3BGL%3A1%3BLBGC%3A336699%3BLC%3A%230000ff%3BVLC%3A%23663399%3BGFNT%3A%230000ff%3BGIMP%3A%230000ff%3BDIV%3A%23336699%3B&domains=homemadedegrees.blogspot.com&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&q=course&btnG=Search&sitesearch=homemadedegrees.blogspot.com
  6. i was thinking the same thing - i went on line to check out distance learning in the UK but I'm going for the ou - local colleges also do some stuff- check out their web sites
  7. Well learn direct do courses over a wide range of areas such as hobbies etc as well as academic areas (NB: They are not accrediated though). Alternatively Brunel University do some excellent courses, and although not distance learning Thames Valley University do some real interesting part time courses. Happy fun studying!!
  8. I took a distance learning course in Editing and proofreading etc about 10 years ago from the Uni of Watford. Not bad, but after OU materials, rather boring. Many unis offer a distance-learning option nowadays; I'd browse a few if I were you, and see what you turn up. Or search under 'distance learning ' and whatever course you're interested in.
