Why are MBA tuition costs so much higher than other Masters degrees?

When viewing the Berkeley, UCSD, and UCLA websites, it becomes obvious that the fees associated with acquiring an MBA are substantially higher than other majors (but not all). Why is this? For example, the Berkeley iSchool fees approach 10k flat, while the MBA is about 30k (32k @ UCLA). I was just curious about this gap and why it was about 3x as much across the board.

  1. MBA is considered an entire new degree but at a higher level.. much more recognised by companies and internationally.. a regular masters is just another paper trail that says you did another one year at college.
  2. It may just have something to do that people will pay it. The population of most MBA programs has a lot of working professionals who either have the income to make it work or whose companies are paying for them to get this degree. I don't really know, though, as I've never gone the MBA route If you're comparing with undergrad degrees. . . well, then pretty much any grad school tuition is going to be 2-3x the undergrad level at even the same school. It just is that way, because what you're learning is supposed to be that much a) more valuable or b) harder to teach.
