Masters and Doctoral Programs?

I plan to pursue an online masters degree. I looked into Univ.of Phoenix, and I like the idea of finishing the M.S. clinical psychology in max. 18 months. But they don't offer PhD programs. Walden University offered me a bridge program due to high undergraduate GPA. The bridge program, 4-6 years, allows for me to complete a masters in general psychology, from where the coursework transfers into the PhD clinical psychology. But the masters doesn't include a licensure, and the licensure specializations, in this case clinical, are not accredited by the American Psychological Association, and have not received designation by the Association of State (I am in Calilfornia) and the Provincial Psychology Board. Would the program be a waste or can I take them on my own independently elsewhere? And how can I finally move over to becoming a psychiatrist?

  1. You need a medical degree to become a Psychiatrist. You will need to go to a real university to get that.
  2. I am unsure has to how effective the programs that you have mentioned would be but I can tell you to look into UMASS online. A friend of mine has recently received his masters in psychology this way and I do beleive they have Phd available as well in this field. Oh, all of the UMASS online plans are already accredidated, so its worth looking into.
