Questions on Master Psychology Degree?

What is the expected length of time? 6Years? I really dont want to get a docotorate. That degree is way too long and i am certainly not up for it. So dont bring it up. What is the average pay for Psychologist? What fields of Psychology can i branch into with a masters?

  1. Someone with a masters degree is NOT a psychologist unless they specialize in school psychology. The title is reserved for PhDs. A masters in psychology takes 2-3 years full time. If you want to be a counselor, I would strongly suggest a masters of social work rather than a masters in psychology- you have more career options with an MSW as a counselor and often get a higher salary.
  2. yea, everyone majors in Psychology
  3. A school counselor has a masters in counseling. A school psychologist has a Ph.D. I worked in the Psychology Dept. at a state university, and earned a masters in counseling as well. Best wishes.
