- To go into 'medicine' is a (to me) heart thing. Yes to some it's ego, money, stature in society...that stuff. But being a physician is more. You've decided to try and get a degree in holistic health. Nice. But in medicine...life isn't holistic. Those problems, dog bites, broken bones, nails in eyes, torn ligaments, heart attacks, splitting aortas, vomiting blood, peeing blood, parasites, watching a child die.....is a bit more than take this herb and you'll feel better. You you WANT to be a doctor. It's your passion to be a doctor. Then do it. You need the math. You need the history. You need the chemistry, the physics, ... all of it...as it all comes back sooner or later in a clinical problem. You are in the emergency room at 3 a.m. A man comes in, a big, 350 pound line backer...he's blue. His eyes are bugged out, he's short of breath, his lungs are full of fluid and he's foaming pink froth at his mouth and nose...he KNOWS he's going to die, and very very soon. You keep your head...you find what's going on...you treat it. He goes home in 4 days with his family. Being a doctor isn't herbs, or pills or money, or HMO's or pretty offices. It's touching a patient in a way that heals his fear, fixes his heart, allows him to be scared, relieves pain, stands up to the massive wrongs we do to each other every day. It's can't be gotten on line. It starts inside you.
- The one I have been looking into is Australasian College of Health Sciences. They are accredited and are distance learning. They are NOT cheap but nothing worth anything ever is. Check out their web site at: https://www.achs.edu/default.aspx Good luck with your future!
