I want to pursue a psychology degree, how does this work?

I recently decided that I want to get a degree in psychology. I can get an associates, bachelors, and masters degree from an online university (the only way I will have time to get education) but I was just wondering what kind of jobs I can get with each degree, I know I need a PHD to become a clinical psychologist, that is what I would eventually like to accomplish. But I was just wondering if I stop at a bachelors, what kind of career could I have? Ideally I would like to help young women deal with abuse.

1. I have worked with a Psychology major in retail pharmacy. I have seen them work for a bankholding company. It's a pretty basic major that could be applied in many areas. I would suggest looking at sites like careerbuilder.com or hotjobs.com or monster.com to see what jobs are currently available. That will give you a good sense.
2. I am a graduate student in Clinical Psychology. There is really nothing that you can do with a bachelors degree in psychology that you couldn't do with a bachelors in any field. (For all intents it's not going to help you any) If you would like to help young women deal with abuse I would actually recommend getting a Masters Degree in Social Work. I think this would be the best way to get a job in the field you are looking at.
3. There might be a few counseling positions you could get working directly on under a PhD, but you're probably better off getting a MSW (master's in social work) if that's your aim. Such positions for those with bachelor's degrees only are pretty rare. BTW, I had a professor who'd gotten his PhD online from a school called Walden University, and he never had anything bad to say about it.
4. i have just my bachelors degree in psychology and am having a huge problem finding a job for the last 6 months. there aren't any positions in the psyc field that will accept just a bach in psyc. my suggestion is either go for BSW/MSW (bachelors/masters in social work). psychology is a field that there are many people majoring in but not enough positions. as for the abuse councelor position, usually those go to people who have both a masters in psyc/social work and have personal experience with abuse in their life. volunteer with some womens shelters during your studies. getting a foot in the door will help. let them know that you are pursuing your degree and are hoping to work full time for them upon completion. good luck!
