Public Comments

  1. A masters is a more advanced degree. You get it after you've gotten your bachelors.
  2. Bachelors Degree is 4 years and Masters is more with an essay written to the professor that is outstanding.
  3. BA in psych is for general psychology... Masters is for a specialised field in psychology such as clinical, forensic, health, sports, criminological.. etc.
  4. A Masters is better than a Bachelors. And, a Masters takes longer to get.
  5. A master's degree is more specialized study. The bachelor's degree is a general four- or five- year degree. If you want to practice as a therapist, you would need, at a minimum, a master's degree, in most states in the US. You'd want to look at requirements for your state and county if you want to practice as a therapist.
  6. bachelors is 4 years masters is 6 yrs
  7. bachelors degree includes general education courses along with a designated amount of psychology courses and generally takes 4 years. masters is more focused, usually all psychology courses and sometimes requires a thesis and takes around 2 years
  8. The bachelor degree is the first degree you get. It takes four years and is a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. This means you take classes that concentrate around behavioral sciences. The masters is more specialized, although some can be a general Masters with no emphasis, you just learn more. This takes about 1.5 to 3 years. You will want to go for your Ph.D as well, since most people who want a serious career have to have the Ph.D. This is even more specialized and can take anywhere from 3 to 8 years.
  9. The obvious is how many years it takes to complete each one and the content is much more advanced in a Graduate program. A graduate program takes two to three years and normally requires a thesis at the end that you must defend (almost like a dissertation, but not as brutal) If you are looking to become a Psycologist, you can do one of two things. You can become a doctor of Psych (PsyD) or you can get your Masters in Counseling/Psych, sit for your boards and then you can practice after about 2200 hours of internship. It all depends on the state's requirements too. Just be careful on which school you choose and make sure it is reputable and regionally accredited. Don't go for those schools that promise you can get your degree in less than a year!! =) Good luck!!
  10. You won't be accepted into Graduate School (to get a Masters degree) without first getting your Bachelors degree. The Masters is an advanced degree. 1. 4 years of undergraduate work (majoring in Psychology) to get your Bachelor's degree 2. Apply to Graduate Schools (you can start applying toward the end of your junior year in college) 3. You can get your Masters in 2 years Total: 6 years Good luck!
