I am interested in getting a Masters/Psychology MFT degree ....?

I am interested in entering a MA/PSY MFT program which will take approx. 3 years to complete and $50K. I am 40 yrs old and don't know if I want years of paying back loans. Is it true that MFT's start with a salary of only $40 K and the 3000 hour internship is usually no pay or very low pay? Has anyone gone through the program? Thank you.

  1. I have not gone through the program but I asked our school psych and she said that you are right in the ball park. I would add, if it is what you really want to do, go for it. Then you will stop going to work every day and start going to a career instead.
