How much should I get paid if I 2 Masters Degrees?

If I am a graduate student of Masters in Computer Science (5 years MCS) and Masters in Business Administration (2 years MBA). In your opinion, what salary shoud I have if I was working in the states? You advised me to have years of work experience! The question is what kind of job should look for if I am confused to choose between the Business domain and the Programming field! Which domain you suggest that I work in and which is the better paid? For me, I like more the business field... but I was trying to see if i can find a better paid job with 2 Masters degrees! Do you think that I Masters in Computer Science worth nothing with an MBA degree?

  1. I am in the exact same position - a Master's in Teaching and a Master's in Educational Administration - but people in the education industry are paid on a different scale. I would be careful if I were you, though - don't price yourself out of the job market.
  2. Well, what job are you planning on having? But the average someone who has a master's is about $60-80 thousand a year.
  3. What makes you think that having 2 pieces of paper hanging on the wall is worth more than one? What you know and who you know is what determines your salary, not diplomas. The diploma may get you an interview or may be required for the job, but that's about it.
  4. I am currently working on two Masters, one in counseling psychology and another in forensic psychology. I have talked to multiple advisor's how have informed me that minimum that I can make with a Master's degree is 65k annually in California. Depending on the field I want to pursue, ie management or executive, that can be higher or lower... good job for going for the Master's!
  5. The work experience you have will also make a big difference. If you don't have any - if you simply have the degrees, but no full time experience - then I'd guess maybe around $45,000, depending. If, however, you have work experience, depending on what that is, you could make $65,000 or much higher, depending. It depends on the field you plan to enter, the industry, the location of the job, the reputation of the schools you attended, and etc. For example, consulting tends to pay higher than many jobs with a corporation. Jobs in NYC pay more than those in Nebraska. there are a LOT of factors involved in determining payscales.
