Has any one taken an online distance learning course from a vocational school (what did you think did it help)

I got all my prerequisites for my masters degree through distance learning. I loved it. you have to be very disciplined though to read the material, take notes at home and go write a test at a testing center or just send in papers. I know a lot of people that got very far behind or just ended up quitting.
