For distance learning students...?

If and when the Almighty Web is practically your only option for resources for college, specifically distance/online learning, how do you go about obtaining, organizing, weeding out, studying and even highlighting resources? I've not been in a classroom setting for over a decade, and have recently enrolled in college courses online. I was always a "highlighter" in high school--having every piece of material in front of me in order to study effectively. I don't see that being possible in this setting, unless I print EVERYTHING out, and that can get quite costly. I've just read through my syllabus just to get a heads up of what I am in for, and it involves articles and journals, and APA format and essays... le sigh. I'm really rather organized, but in a case such as this, I'll have no clue where to start... I'd like to know what you process is when it comes to, say, writing a research paper, or even studying notes. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

  1. instead of printing things out you can make a bookmark of the page the article is on, or save it to your computer, or cut and paste information you need to a Word document (with appropriate citations of course)- hope that helps :)
  2. i'm also that organize like you are... i guess when i write a paper, i write down some questions first that might help in writing my paper and the one's that make more sense and bring more ideas are the ones i include. Then I make this random drawing like cause and effect or sumtin. Then I would research some more. In study cases, I usually put everything on the table like calculators pencils and notes. Always start studying with the easy notes till you get challeged when you go to hard parts. Rest your minf after 45 minutes of studying because your mind get stressed out above that...
  3. I have taught online for years now- I also took classes on line-please email me- I may not get back to you this week end - but I will by Monday.
