How valid & approved are Degrees awarded basing on LIFE/WORK EXPERIENCE mainly as a basis for Higher studies?
Some Online Universities evaluate and offer Bachelor's Degrees based on what one previously studied, what job one is doing and the experience in that particular field, for a fee. Are these Degrees accepted accademically? Can one be accepted by other Universities for a MASTERS' DEGREE &/or PHD? Can someone advise as to which Universities are genuinely accredited for such, and give me names/a list of them if possible?

- Its a minefield out there! In the end, what you want is recognition from a well-known university. There has been a movement recently to evaluate life experience and work experience in terms of being equal to a certain amount of education. The only online university I know anything about is Open University., and it is accepted world-wide. I'd be very careful about any of the others.
- These universities that claim to award degrees based on life experiences are suspect. As with any school your considering attending, you need to their credentials. The most important thing to check is accreditation. Council for Higher Education Accreditation ( http://www.chea.org/search/default.asp ) is an organization that is government sponsored that maintains a listing of regionally accredited colleges and universities. Check out there database and see if the school your interested in is really accredited. If it isn't then I would avoid it plague.
