I need help with finding a good distance learning/"home school high school" program....? This fall I'll be going into my sophomore year of high school. Previously I had been home schooled for most of elementary and middle school. Last year, freshman year, I went to a public high school. My parents thought it would be better for me to attend a public school for my high schools years to so that I could stay up to par more easily with all of the credits and the like required for me to graduate. I was basically miserable there, at public school. This year we're trying something new -we learned about an online program called Penn Foster via an ad in the mail, but after looking it up just doesn't seem very complete. I know now that there are a lot of programs like Penn Foster out there, but it's difficult separating the good from the bad. So, could anyone recommend a good, reputable distance learning program for a home school-high school sophomore? Something with a complete curriculum, and preferably one with some type of payment/financing plan available as I've noticed programs like this can be quite expensive. Any help appreciated. Thank you very much! :D

Distance learning (homeschooling) or private school? Which better for college? Hi, I am a 7th grader that does a distance learning program. I complete a week's worth of work and send it in to my teacher by mail. I teach myself through textbooks. I am very worried about college. I know several students have gone to Ivy Leagues by doing the program. I am a huge tennis player, but I have a dream to go to an Ivy League. The school program that I am in now only has Honors classes, not AP courses. I do not know if I should go to a private regular school next year. I have straight A+. I do not know what to do. Please help me as soon as possible. Thanks!
Who thinks Yahoo needs to set up a Distance Learning section? It's getting rather tiring seeing all these messages in the homeschooling section related to distance learning. They are not the same! I can understand school-aged distance learning questions as that is a form of homeschooling, but once you're past high school age, it's not homeschooling anymore. How do we get Yahoo to create a new section? Thanks! I didn't know there was a suggestion section. Just went over there and the suggestion is already up!
What are gifted online/distance learning schools? I know I have asked this question before, but I would like to see if anyone has anything to add. =) I know a few people said that there were tons of programs, and they did name a few. If you are one of these people, please expand your answer and tell me a few more. Thanks!
Do you think distance learning and virtual schools will replace traditional high schools? What do you think? What about the Florida Virtual Schools. Will that begin to replace tradtional schools? I'm a teacher now, but really, if I'm honest, am starting to see that more and more parents are going to catch on to this. Who wouldn't like the convenience of staying at home and learning online> I'm just starting to feel that teaching is a dead end job (no real future due to lack of respect and the fact that is likely (more and more) that online education will replace us.
Hey people :) Which school I should pick for a distance-learning Travel/Hotel/Restaurant mgmt diploma course? I'm seriously considering taking up a diploma in Travel/Hotel/Restaurant management via distance-learning and I have shortlisted these three schools: Penn Foster (http://www.pennfosterglobal.com/travel/index.html), PCDI (http://www.pcdi.com/courses/ff/outline.html) and Stonebridge Associated Colleges (http://www.stonebridge.uk.com/det/348/Restaurant+Management). Now I'm stuck - I do not know which to choose! The accreditation for Stonebridge is pretty unclear, but it's cheaper than the rest and includes modules on setting up a restaurant, the equipment needed etc. Penn Foster's regionally accredited (I think), as well as nationally accredited, but it's slightly more expensive. PCDI's nationally accredited but it seems to focus more on service management. I'm so confused, can someone please help me? It would be great if ex-students of any of the three institutions above can share their experiences with these schools. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a million, and have a great day!
How do I know which units to study for each assignment (Symbiosis Distance Learning)? I just enrolled in Symbiosis School of Distance Learning's PGDCRM program. The textbooks are divided into units. There are assignments for each subject called Consumer Behaviour 1, consumer Behaviour 2 for example. How do I know which chapters/units to study for each assignment? Does Consumer Behaviour 1 mean it's questions for Consumer Behaviour unit 1 only? Please help.

Distance Learning? I'm considering masters degree distance learning in Environmental Management. I can't help but wondering whether I will be missing out on alot if I dont attend grad school... Any advice or tips?
Any advice on taking a distance learning program for cosmetology school? It's kind of weird but I am so busy with my full time job that it would be really convenient...I just don't know how recommended it would be. I've checked the BBB and looked at reviews and the school is good. My concern is being able to find an internship after I finish it. It is basically all textbook learning, you do exams on the reading...and you watch videos of certain things. No Hands on. That is something you have to do after you finish the courses...and on your own. It is Stratford Career Institute. Anybody heard of it/taken courses there?? Any advice. I dont know if it would be worth it to take these courses or not... My biggest fear is finishing and than not being able to find somebody who would hire me for an internship on this kind of background. (distance learning) I live in Washington DC. Any advice on what I should do would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
What is your opinion on graduate schools through distance learning? I'm preparing to receive my B.A. this year and looking into grad schools. I am really thinking about this one distance learning program through a well known school in England. As I have to pay for my education myself, the fact that an entire Master's program is $9,000 is a major selling point! Has anyone had any experience with online or distance programs? ADDED: The school has an actual campus and is reputable for Archaeology, what I would like to study. The website is located: http://www.le.ac.uk/external/
How do I find a distance-based or online grad school? I'm trying to find a grad school that allows me to work during the day and go to class in the evenings and weekends, or is some sort of distance learning and online where I do the coursework via the internet and when I need to, travel to a classroom. I've looked at a lot of grad schools and they all want you to be in class at 10 am or so. Personally, I am not going to do that because I need to work and a measly TA's pay of only 4,000 a semester isn't going to cut it. I also want to make sure it's accredited and will still seem legitimate to future employers. I want to ultimately get my master's and Ph.D. without needing to sacrifice work salary, marriage, or having a family. Does anyone have any ideas or websites I can start my search? thanks. I'd like to get my Ph.D in clinical psych.
Distance learning? Peace to you Can anyone tell how to learn about the following Or via the Internet Is one knows the universities or schools for this purpose Thank you

Is distance learning effective and/or worthwhile? I am seriously considering a course in HVAC that will cost approximately $800(US$). The vocational school estimates that it will take nine months to complete this course. I am considering distance learning (internet & snail mail) because I work full time (in unrelated industry). The school claims it is nationally recognized and that at the end of the course I will be HVAC certified and EPA approved. I have done my research & somewhat agree with their claim. I want to know, is there anyone out there who has completed such a course or similar course and can rid me of any lingering doubts before I take the plunge into this? Basically, does distance learning work? After completing the course, will I be employable in the HVAC field?

Are any distance learning law schools worth it? I always wanted to go to law school, but ended up going to undergraduate business school (graduated 7 years ago). I've been fairly successful since then and make about $250k per year. If possible, I still would like to go to law school, but given my current commitments, I can't go to school full time and start my career over again. There are no law schools with night programs in my state, and it would be difficult for me to move. I know there are many law programs that offer distance learning. This would be ideal for me and I would have no problem hopping on a plane once a month or so and flying to a campus if needed. However, I know that many distance learning programs are looked down upon and I don't want to spend a lot of money for something that is perhaps a joke within the industry. My goals isn't to be an attorney (though I don't want to ever rule anything out). I would probably take the bar and continue with my current career, using the knowledge to advance in my field.
