accredited online masters degrees knowledge base
Any recommendations for accredited online masters degrees programs? I have a BA in English, but would like to get a Masters in one of the following: Special Ed./Early Ed. Social Work Speech Pathology I would also like to know if it matters if the school is out of state (for licensing and certification programs). Any online graduates out there that can personally recommend a school? Please be specific, I don't need more search sites. Thanks!
Will a fully accredited online Masters degree be enough to find a community college teaching position? I'm thinking of going to Golden Gate University online program and when I'm done I will have two Masters Degrees one in finance and one in industrial psychology. The online degree is accredit by the WASC. I also have an undergraduate degree from a highly regarded institution. My work experience is relevant and somewhat impressive. I'm wondering if potential community colleges will discount my online degree? What will my prospects be like? WASC = Western Association of Schools and colleges. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of six official academic bodies responsible for the accreditation of public and private universities, colleges, secondary and elementary schools in the United States and foreign institutions of American origin. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has jurisdiction over the states of California and Hawaii, territories of Guam, American Samoa, Micronesia, Palau, Northern Marianas Islands, Pacific Rim, East Asia and areas of the Pacific and East Asia where American schools or colleges may apply to it for service.
Accredited online education masters degree program for Texas? I'm trying to find an online school that offers a masters in education program that would be recognized and accepted while I'm teaching in Texas. Anybody that teaches in Texas get a masters degree online, that their district recognized and can share what site and program they went through? So far no teachers from Texas have been able to help me answer my questions. I really don't want either of these first two answers to get any points, because they are so what I was hoping not to get. Obviously I'm aware there are many online colleges available, any dummy with a search engine could find that out, but accreditation varies by state so if you don't know specifics please don't waste your time.
Online Universities for a Masters Degree? Do you believe that an accredited online college/university for a Masters Degree has any credibility yet in the world today? Will it help someone in the future? Do businesses look at this on a resume and take an online degree as having no value? Any experience in the area would be of help.
How much credibility do employers see in online degrees? Also, do bosses see enough credibility in online master's degree to grant payraise to an employee who attains one besides working hard and doing a good job? Will employers consider someone who at least got an online degree from an accredited school if not a big name school? I'm thinking about getting an online master's since I need to keep steady with my current job. For any hiring managers or bosses who'll answer this post, what's your take?
Will employers view an online masters degree the same as one taken in a classroom? I am thinking about getting my masters degree and want to make sure that I don't end up wasting my time and money. I don't live close to a college and would prefer to take classes online due to my current schedule. Does anyone know how I can make sure that the program comes from an accredited and well ranked college? (a website) I already have a BS in Criminal Justice and plan to get my masters in that field. Any advice would be appreciated.
I am interested in getting a Master's Degree from an Accredited Online University? I am interested in obtaining a Master's Degree in Psychology from an Accredited Online University. My husband is in the Military, and each time I start at the local university, we have to move due to military issues. This causes me to start at another university in the next town wherever they send us, and the process starts all over again. Sometimes, the next university accepts some credits from the other colleges and not others, which is very frustrating. Already, I have been to 5 separate universities and counting. In light of this, now I'm considering getting an online degree from an accredited school, so that when we move again, this will not affect my studies and I won't have to start at another university. How do Employer's view online degrees? I plan to work as a licensed professional counselor, therapist or support staff at a local University. Any suggestions?
I want to teach History in a Community College, can I get a legitimate masters degree online? I am almost finished with my Bachelors degree in History. I would like to continue on and get my masters in History. I am interested in American Public University's (APU) History program. But can I get a legitimate masters degree from a fully online institution, that when Im finished I would be able to get a job teaching at a community college? APU is fully accredited but Im leary because the only information about them I can find is on their website. It seems like nobody has heard of them. Any help would be appreciated!
What are the best online universities for a Masters in English? I am looking at National University and NAU? www.nu.edu and nau.edu I have looked at both and both are nationally and regionally accredited. The problem is so many schools now are accredited that it sort of make me think what is the big deal? Do employers hire you if you got on online degree? I don't want to spend thousands and have a worthless diploma. How do I know if employers don't shun an online Masters degree? I like National University's curriculum better than Northern Arizona University but I am afraid that because National University is less known it might not be taken as seriously. I am only considering English because that is what I am good at. I know University of Phoenix is not taken seriously and I don't want to be lumped with those people. Thanks, Stacy
What are some good accredited online universities? I have recently completed my bachelors degree in management and i am looking to do my masters online (Business administration, marketing or project management). However i want to do something that is noted worldwide. any suggestions?
Online Masters? I'm planning to do a online M.ed. I came across two online Universities, both regionally accredited so they are real degrees. One is 'Jones International U' and the other is 'U of Phoenix'. I've heard a lot of good news about U of P and its reputation in the online degree business, however after reading the course info of both courses, I think the Jones one is better for me (1. its more specialized and it whats I want to learn 2. I think it is cheaper) Has anyone any experience or comments on Jones? I not really studying the M.ed for a career path, but it may come in handy later on ... maybe go for the U of P?
Online Master's of Education degrees - HELP!? Please save my bleary eyes from more research. I am a spouse of a U.S. military officer, living in Asia (not near any universities). Obviously, I cannot obtain a master's degree in the traditional sense. That leaves online. My concern is having a degree on my resume from an institution that nobody's heard of. I know that there are plenty of good quality schools out there that are not widely known. However, I feel a bit leery of the schools that are exclusively online. Even if they're properly accredited, are there any exclusively online schools that are great quality, somewhat known, and "safe?" Some of the well known schools like Drexel and Penn St. have some online master's degree programs, but their programs are not as flexible as the lesser known schools' programs. Being a military spouse who moves frequently, flexibility is critical. Quality is critical! Thoughts? Advice? Thank you for your time in reading this long post.
Online accredited Bible course? I live in rural India & am a Hindu who does not wish to convert. But at the same time I am deeply interested in Catholic theology and Bible Studies. I have a basic background in these fields. I want to do online course leading to Bachelor/Masters degrees in these subjects. Where can i do the courses from? Thank you.
What are the best totally ONLINE schools out there for accounting degrees? I work full time and the nearest college to me is an hour away. I know some companies may feel that online degrees are not as good, but I don't feel I have a choice. However, I do want to go to a college that is regionally recognized and accredited, one that will transfer over to any other college later on when I go back for my masters. Any suggestions? Thanks
Troy University - online degree--what to do when they don't send your diploma, return calls, & refuse to compl What to do? Used online accredited degree program that would be accepted by my state's DPI to upgrade my educational experience. Completed the program (GPA=4.0) & 4 hr. written comps and was notified but now...they are dragging their feet - no diploma mailed, have made dozens of calls, e-mails, & written requests. Now they REFUSE to fill out a verification form to document my degree completion. What can I do? This means everything looked reputable about university and degree program but is it? I have just completed a 2 yr. master's degree and spent 10K and have nothing to prove it. What can I do if my employer refuses to upgrade my educational experience without form? Teachers don't have a lot of money for lawyers.
Looking for Online Web Design & Development (IT) Programs offering Bachelors and Masters? I am a professional working full-time, therefore a brick and mortar school is out of the question. I often work late hours and need to find a regionally accredited university offering a bachelors degree in web development and design. I would like to eventually obtain a master's degree in this particular area of IT, however, I have heard some not so good things about Kaplan University. I recently had a bad experience with an admissions advisor and would like to know if anyone knows of a brick and mortar school that has an online degree program in the above referenced areas of interest. I have been searching for months and thought Kaplan was my best choice but I would like to know if there are other options available before going further in debt. Please keep in mind that I already have a BA degree from MU in Missouri.
Is doing a Masters online ok? I currently live overseas in South America, am 30 year old single male. I need to get a Masters degree, but even though my job will be ending soon, I dont want to go back to the U.S. to do it and go and live at home again. (I could do it of course, but this seems better suited to my lifestyle and I love being abroad) I know it is BETTER in terms of making connections and getting a job later to do it face to face, but this seems better for me. I wouldn't be doing it at a questionalbe place like U. of Phoenix, it would be a legit accredited brick and mortar school that offer online study, like University of Maryland, Drexel, Seton Hall, or Tufts. What do you think about getting a Masters this way?
I heard an online degree isn't accredited. Is that true. I want to go to Liberty University...? I'd like to get a masters of guidance counseling degree from Liberty with the focus on being a guidance counselor. Honestly, my brother is a successful lawyer, and my sister is a successful teacher. They both graduated from Liberty University. That whole tier thing is a bunch of crap as I think it's the controversy of it being affiliated with the late Jerry Falwell and Christian base that makes people not like the University. Will my Master's Degree (earned online) be "worthy"? I am working online through an accredited universitry (Drexel, in Penn.) to earn my Master's Degree. I want to be sure that when I have completed my course work, that my degree is equivalent to a Master's Degree not earned online. In other words, I don't want to have "online" stamped across my diploma or transcripts. How can I be sure?
What are some colleges (not online) that offer a master's degree in accounting? Looking for an actual accredited college that would be recognized in the accounting field. Not wanting an online school with degree programs not worth the paper they're written on. (DeVry or Phoenix type places) Also, any websites with degree requirement and tuition would be appreciated. Looking for anywhere in the United States.
Studying online? I am interested in studying online( taking master) through university of phoenix. Do you think studying online is valuable or accredited as studying on campus. I really appreciate if you tell me the advantages and disadvantages of getting a master degree online. Thank you.
Masters and Doctoral Programs? I plan to pursue an online masters degree. I looked into Univ.of Phoenix, and I like the idea of finishing the M.S. clinical psychology in max. 18 months. But they don't offer PhD programs. Walden University offered me a bridge program due to high undergraduate GPA. The bridge program, 4-6 years, allows for me to complete a masters in general psychology, from where the coursework transfers into the PhD clinical psychology. But the masters doesn't include a licensure, and the licensure specializations, in this case clinical, are not accredited by the American Psychological Association, and have not received designation by the Association of State (I am in Calilfornia) and the Provincial Psychology Board. Would the program be a waste or can I take them on my own independently elsewhere? And how can I finally move over to becoming a psychiatrist?
Attenders of ONLINE COLLEGE, name a GOOD accredited college? I am looking to go to a good, accredited online college. I intend to go for a Bachelor's degree (maybe a Master's) in Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering. In short computer programming. Preferably a college that does not require that you be employed while attending. ( If that is possible) The price is beside the point for now. I just need some good leads. I would be really greatful to hear from those that attended the college, more than from those that heard about them. Maybe even some advice on schools that I should steer clear of, as well. Phoenix was one that I was looking at, BUT they require that you be employed or work within the field of study to attend. I would rather look into one that doesn't, first. I just want to be able to focus on studying and studying only until I feel that I am fully prepared to work within the field. Thanks to all who offer their advice! Ok, then, I guess UNIVERSITY is more on the lines of what I meant. Thanks.
Earning A Masters in Mental Health Counseling Online? My goal is to become a clinical psychologist, something i would not want to earn online. However i was intrigued by one online program, although highly skeptical of its value. I found a CACREP and regionally accredited masters in mental heath counseling, that is done about 80% online. The only reason i don't dismiss it outright is because of the CACREP accreditation. Is that a degree that one could realistically earn online or would it be too difficult to learn/find a job/ know how to do hands on stuff, with a degree like that?
What are my education options for Immigrating to Canada? I am an 27 year old single American male considering a move to Canada. I would like to apply as a skilled worker but I will first have to increase my education to do so. I currently only have an associates degree but would like to earn a bachelors or perhaps a masters degree in business. I've been considering an online degree program so I can continue working as I study. The particular program I'm interested in is regionally accredited in the US. Are these degrees valued in Canada? I'm also interested in studying in Canada if it would be better. I'd like any advice from anyone knowledgeable on what the best path of education may be. If it helps I'm looking mostly at the Vancouver area in BC. Thank you for your time.
Where can I check to see if a univeristy is accredited? I would like to check out the accreditation of schools I am looking at. I know they need to be accredited. I just don't know who does that or where to find that information. (And to make this question more specific, I personally, am looking for a school to get my masters degree- most likely in special education. I am interested in doing some/all online if possible because I have to continue working) Thanks!
Online University? What is the best and accredited online universtiy i can attend so that i can obtain my Masters Degree in Social Work? Please help!
I want to take a degree program online, however...? it's extremely expensive. It's not just a stupid program, it's an accredited Bachelor's to Master's degree program and I'm extremely interested. Only, the financial aid they offer doesn't help me out at all, and I can't get federal help because it's an online school and not part of "the list". I'd really prefer not to take out a personal loan, as I'm already in way in debt. Any alternate suggestions? Serious replies only please. Thanks! I'm looking to get a degree (preferably Masters) in Nutrition. Penn Foster and PCDI and those only have certificate programs. I'm already doing one of them, just to see how things work out time wise with an online school... so far so good... but I need a real degree.
Is there an online master's degree (M.A. or M.S.) in Economics? I am looking for a grad school program in Economics that I can take without moving or leaving work. The trouble is that none of my local universities have part-time programs. I have great grades from a respected college, a pretty good work record, and high GMAT scores. I was thinking of moving to D.C. for the Johns Hopkins part-time Applied Economics program but got some bad feedback from an alum. Other than D.C., I'm not up for moving so that leaves online distance learning. I would be so indebted if anyone knows about an online program in Economics or Applied Economics. I am not looking for any other distance-learning programs (MBA, etc.). The program I want must be accredited and based in either North America or the U.K. Just to clarify, I was referring to Johns Hopkins' Capitol Hill program in Applied Economics -- not the Baltimore campus. Also, I have great GRE scores as well. I just put GMAT down by accident.
To teach business/ finance at the university level how important is the school you earned the PHD from? I'm thinking of changing of careers to univeristy professor. I have a masters degree in finance from Golden Gate university. I have an undergraduate degree from a UC. I was thinking of trying for a PHD. How important is the school I earn the PHD from in regards to finding positions? For example if I went through an accredited but online based PHD program like would that still afford me the similar opportunities? I like the convenience of online work. I guess I'm basically asking if any accredited PHD program will do the trick or if it is only highly regarded insitutions are that marketable? I'm thinking of positions with cal state schools or similar schools.
Accredited Life experience Bachelor degree ? Its possible to obtain a degree within some days ? I have completed 12 years study (intermediate ) with one year professional study in computer field. Due to some finnacial and family problems , i couldn't get graduate. I have work experience more then 4 years in computer field and now more then one and half year , in business administrative field. I'm having less pay and less grad onlny because i don't have a bachelor degree. They guy working upper then me , even he is upper just because he have a bachelor degree , besides he always need my help and guidance. I'm sure if i have a bachelor degree, i can get better place.I went through defrent sites online, but after i red alot of stuff about them like Diploma Mills. I dont have time and money for a regular online degree programe. Is there realy exsist Life Experience Degrees ? Please give me a way , where i can get it.. if you know. I want a bachelor Degree , in less money , quick as possible , but Accredited and Recognized , because i have plan for Masters in future. Thanks to all.
National University, California? I am thinking to take up their online Masters degree, anybody did their higher education with NU. They are accredited by (WASC) Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities, which accredits schools and colleges in the Western United States. How are their degree considered in corporate world? How is their curriculum, teaching etc..? Any experiences, opinions, please share.
Why does Devry get lumped in with other fake online degree mills? I have a couple friends that go to Devry, 1 for undergrad, and 1 for a masters. They both attend class in person, NOT online, have real professors (1 accounting professor is a CFO for publicly traded company, and an IT professor was director of IT, etc.), They take written exams and do real course work like projects/assignments/end of chapter problems. I've seen examples of both of their work and it doesn't look "fake" or "online only" at all. Devry/Keller is regionally accredited like many other "traditional"schools. The only knock on them I can see is that they don't have specific program accreditation (AACSB for example). I'm thinking about attending Keller Grad School (I have a "brick and mortar" 4 yr. B.S. degree), but all I hear is negative, and they get lumped in with University of Phoenix's bad rep. Do the people that trash these places actually have 1st hand experience or is it mostly generic rumor/speculation? Don't say it "isn't accredited" b/c it is. Thanks! I've seen "TV commercials" for almost all universities, online and real, so that really isn't a valid argument, ones in the Big TEN, MAC, and from other athletic conferences too.
Has anyone been through the University of Nebraska at Kearney online biology masters degree? I am looking for an accredited online biology Master's degree, and UNK came up multiple times along with Saint Joseph's in Connecticut. Going through a "traditional" grad program would not be functional for me, as I have an awesome job that supports me well financially, but I still want to further myself in the field. Any opinions? Also, I have already been through a traditional biology undergrad, and have also published my research. This degree would be a supplement to my education for future employment.
Where can I find online courses to use as prerequisites for grad school? I'm planning on going back to school for a Master's. There are a few prerequisites that I need, but I work full time. I've been trying to find a distance learning program that's accredited but haven't found any yet. I've heard that there are different accreditations, but I'm not sure where I'll be going to school, I have a few places in mine. Also, I just want to take stand alone courses, not towards an online degree. Any advice on where to start looking? Thanks!!
MBA Decision? I am currently working for an employer that is sponsoring my Masters degree in Computer Science. I will graduate next year and have been very interested in pursuing a MBA to enhance and develop my managemenet skills. I do have a dilemma. There are certain factors that I am considering. If I decide to pursue my MBA, it could be part-time or full-time. If I do it part-time, this allows me to take advantange of the tuition reimbursement from my company. This would also imply that I obtain a MBA from an online accredited institution. On the other hand, if I decide to do it full-time, I would have to leave the company and would not be eligible for tuition reimbursement and in addition not receiving income since I would not be working. What are the trade-offs in obtaining a MBA full-time vs part-time and online vs traditional path?
University of Phoenix online program? Ok, I hold a B.A. degree from a CA State College. I have just enrolled at University of Phoenix Online College for their Masters Degreein Education/Curriculum. I was told I can teach with this degree in the state of CA, but now I'm kind of apprehensive because of what people have said about it. I have checked the Dept of Ed website and it is a Regionally Accredited school - has anyone in CA received their degree in this program and was it acceptable at the school districts?
Online Education? I will be out of the country for an extended period of time and figured that this would be the perfect time to get my BS degree in Business Admin/ Marketing... online. I have been having some trouble, however, researching a school that will accept me (I have less than 30 college credits completed, and am unable to take a final if it is required that I be in the US) and that is affordable. I did some extensive research on University of Phoenix but I'm not sure if I can shake the $59K pricetag. Do you know of any regionally accredited, affordable universities that have programs that are completely online? And, If a school is accredited by the DETC - Distance Education & Training Council, is that an acceptable form of accredidation? (will it transfer if, for instance, I wanted to get my Masters). I am a resident of California. I can't go to community college... they require that I be at school to take the final.
How do I become a registered dietician (changing careers)? I received my bachelor's degree in 2004 in sociology and am now interested in becoming a registered dietician. I just want to know what is an acceptable college to attend near me in the Philadelphia suburbs, PA. Is it ok to receive my degree online? For instance, some schools offer an independent study program--what does that mean? How will my career be affected afterwards if I do not attend an accredited school? Am I better off getting my master's degree or is a certification acceptable, and without having much of a science background, how long will it take to finish this degree? It's hard to find all of these answers online and any help you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
What can I do about a vocational school that I feel cheated me? I was attending a private vocational college that offered all of its courses online. It was an accredited Masters program. There was no initial interview or placement tests. So, I signed a Stafford Loan agreement and attended. Half way through, I found out this was too difficult and dropped out. Now, I owe over $18,000 for the Loan. Is there any action that I can take against the school or am I basically stuck with paying this debt? (program was for a biostatistics degree)
Online MBA Dilemma? There is absolutely no way I can attend a University to receive a degree. My job requires me to travel around 250 days a year and I do not have much control over my time off. I need a masters for me to advance in my field. I have looked into Penn State and they looked great until I realized that while their degree does not say "online" it is not from their business school. So a smart person would figure things out. Since I am stuck in this situation and I need a graduate degree, what is the BEST online MBA offered? It has to be accredited. I have also looked into Mississippi State. On a side note: Could I get a degree online and then transfer the credits over when I do have time to go in residence?
So, I'm pretty much not going to get a job, huh? I have another 8 months or so to go before I finish up a MPH (masters in public health degree) at Walden University. At the time when I started, it seemed like a good idea . . . but with a masters from an online school, I don't think I'm gonna get a good job in that area. I do have two bachelors from a decent (2nd tier) brick and mortar school though . . . So give it to me straight . . . I'm pretty much screwed, aren't I? Degrees from online schools aren't worth much, even if you work for them, and even if they are accredited? I should add this -- I do have a great job . . . just not in the public health field. It's made me think I'll need to go back to school (this time, to another brick and mortar) for another masters. But I just wanted to see if people were totally going to laugh at me for thinking that the MPH from Walden would mean something in conjunction with my other BA's. Cheers!
Northcentral University -- 100% online learning -- anyone heard anything positive or negative? I'm looking at pursuing a Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy in order to become a licensed counselor. I live a good distance away from the more major universities and was hoping to find a good distance learning MFT program. Northcentral University appears to be accredited by the right organizations, have all the applicable courses, etc. But, I can't help feeling a bit leary! Has anyone done more extensive research or had an experience (good or bad) with them?
a friend of mine got her bachelors, master, and Phd, online at Rockville University. Is this authentic? This problem is complicated. I think this so called friend of mine believes that these degrees are real to a certain extent but also I believe that she might be aware of what a scam it is and is being deceptive. I'm not sure and it enrages me. She has set up an office with her degrees on the wall and plans on counseling because the Phd is in Psychology. It is outrageous and dangerous! How could I stop this? If you go on line to Rockville University you will see that it says that it is an accredited college but when you check out the two on line sites that accredited Rockville, they look like one in the same only with the name change (BOUA & UCOEA). I know for a fact that she did not get these degrees through legitamate studying. Only last year she had told me that she was a few credits shy of her associates. Now she has her Phd!

Accredited Online degree for design? I had a bachelor degree in Management. But I need to find a degree of design, either diploma, bachelor or master (the last one is preferable) cuz that's what I want to do.
How to become a registered dietician (RD)? Hi, I'm Roxanne. I love nutrition and helping people and already have a masters degree in biotechnology from Sweden. I live in Los Angeles now (got my greencard) and want to get into a program that isn't a waste of time, which I'm thinking the online degree programs are. Are there any accredited, respectable programs to become a registered dietician, certified (possibly clinical) nutritionist, etc. that will actually lead to a job afterwards since, after all, that's the goal. Thanks so much if you can help me.
